Alright then. This is what i feel. Firstly, you do agree to a certain extent that bio IS useful and applicable to our daily lives, am i right? That's why we are studying it. So let me define the term 'BIOLOGY' for you. It is the study of life and of living organisms, including their structure, function, growth, origin, evolution, and distribution. Did you notice 'growth' and 'life' being mentioned? Therefore, as a biology student, i believe that we are learning about the way we function, why it is that way, and things like that. From this alone, we are being exposed to the real world, and i mean REAL. Novels may give us a gist or a rough idea on life etc, but can you be sure that all those are factual, only facts and nothing but the true facts? Yes, if you are just restricting yourself to words, lines and paragraghs from the textbook alone, you'll never develop into a wise and mature individual, but what i'm trying to reinforce here is that everything starts from that egg cell and sperm( don't be horny) All these are cells, and what are cells? The smallest unit of, LIFE. So before we go on to 'experience' life, shouldn't we understand how WE come about first? Hence, being avid readers of novels alone will not bring good knowledge to anyone. Isn't it as good as couch potatos who sit in front of their tv set, crying over sad drama plots? There is no truth in all these. But i can't deny that we do need entertainment once in a while. So you see, i used the word 'ENTERTAINMENT' (:
